| Bill: I'm with you about people being tried in the media and the court of popular opinion. People used to get in my case about the Scott Peterson trial, because everyone in the world had decided he was guilty, and I stupidly thought he was innocent until proven guilty. I wasn't quite ready to hang the guy yet. But that's unfortunately the way our society works. It's a wonder to me sometimes that anyone gets a fair trial.
However, I think that generally on this board, people are posting their immediate reactions to an article. While they may not explicitly state a disclaimer (like, if this is true...), it's still there in spirit. People shouldn't need to couch everything they say on this board with disclaimers. The assumption is there that "this is just their opinion" or "if this actually happened then..."

| That's a good point. Whether it's true or not, this girl is probably pretty messed up. (Either from the abuse, or from whatever it is that mader her make it up).
