| Now I am not in favor of the Universal National Serivce Act or rather "draft" as it is being called. But I don't think people realize the REASONING behind it.
The thing is, maybe people who support the act support it NOT because they are dying to be in the military, but because they want EVERYONE to share in the burden of defending this country.
That is the whole point of this act! Only ONE congress person has a child in the military. Now don't you think our country would be MUCH MORE cautious about going to war, if ALL YOUTH, including those of congress men and women, would have to serve this country? I for one think so, but still I can't support this act. I am just trying to point out that I understand the reasoning behind the act, I just don't think it justifies the National Service Act.
