Previously on Reign ...

Sheperd and sheep. Three or four horsemen. To the castle. Catherine explained what her son had at his Christening. Then the sneak peak scene. Lola departs and Mary follows and asks Lola not to get upset with Francis. Lola wants to move to the East cottage to get away and it has a everything she needs. Lola wants this distance. Mary asks about her Ladies's duties and Lola asks to be released from her duties and Mary does so rather quickly. Conde is there not only for the Christening. He heard about the sheperd. Francis sends Bash to go with Conde. Leith shows up. Francis apologizes for the loss of his lands. Francis wants to give him a position at court with Bash. Greer holds a rattle out and shakes it in front of Lola and Kenna is there too. They have gifts for Lola. Narcisse shows up with Estelle who is now his bride. They'd come to ask for approval. Estelle gives a handkerchief as a gift to Lola and leaves a message. Help me. Francis and Mary on the roof tops. She talks about when they were children. She tells him she's pregnant. He twirls her and they kiss in a long shot.

Frary sex in their room. Catherine shows up and asks about the pregnancy. Apparently Catherine has some sort of medieval pregnancy test with horse urine and something else as she had Mary's chamberpot tested. She had spies on them. Then she sits on their bed and then she has servants bring in food. Mary has a chat with the girls about the pregnancy. They drink and Kenna coughs. They go and get more to drink. Lola and Greer talk separately. Castleroy is distant in his letters. Lola wants to get married again but she thinks her chances are low and Lola complains that she's still not back in as an LIW. Bash and Conde go speak to the shepherd at his home. They asked him about the horsemen. The shepherd couldn't see the Horsemen's faces and when they tried grabbing at him he noticed that their hands were cold as ice. When the Horsemen left, they left the shepherd with a mark and wanted him to renounce his faith. He ran and never saw them again. He repeats that they wanted his soul and he wouldn't give it up. He's afraid of a man who no longer has his soul. Lola goes to Estelle and says she's not sure she can set her free from Narcisse which is what Estelle wants. She had married Narcisse because it was the only way she could keep their lands. Since all her family died, she didn't see any issue, but afterward she's heard stories about his previous wives and horror stories like he forced himself on his first wife so soon after she miscarried that she bled to death. Another wife was found(?) repeatedly in pools of her own blood? N and E have not consummated the marriage yet. She's been giving excuses but she's running out. She's come to Lola because she's the most powerful woman Estelle knows. Estelle pleads as it is her only hope. Greer and Kenna walk and talk about the christening and Mary's pregnancy. They comes across Leith and Kenna asks whether there's any chance in the world for her and Leith to be together. What if her sisters found a rich man to marry and then Greer could marry the man she loves. Greer says that she couldn't be ruled by desire and it's not something to build a live on and then Kenna says to the effect, I don't know. Greer then says that if she has to hear another story about KB knocking the bed onto the floor and Kenna giggles and mentions that they had broken the bed into two. Greer then said the King brought you together and Kenna says but then they explored what was between them. So that confirms that KB have a passionate marriage. Lola goes to Francis and Mary about Estelle. M and F says that it's all story and they could do something if Estelle had been treated badly, but she hasn't. Then Lola brings up that she shouldn't be forced into a life for a moment of weakness then a pregnant pause. Mary asks Francis to leave so that she could have a moment alone with Lola. Mary and Lola fight over Lola sleeping with Francis and how Mary as Queen has always a choice but not Lola eventually, Lola leaves and will be living elsewhere at Mary's request. Their friendship broken.

Estelle and Lola talking. Lola has made arrangements to take Estelle far from court and Narcisse. Estelle has to meet Lola in her chambers when everyone is at the ball. Lola warns that if they are to succeed, then they must exercise the utmost caution. Estelle promises to be careful. Dancing at the ball at the small event before the Christening. Mary can't imagine what the banquet will be like if the level of celebration occurred beforehand. Francis tells Mary how how desirable she is. Mary leaves Francis at the giant butter sculpture with Bash who comes to tell him what he's found out about the shepherd. He suspects it's Catholics trying to scare protestant. Bash congratulates Francis on becoming a father twice over. He had heard from Kenna but Catherine is telling everyone. Francis suspects that they are men that can be caught. Conde tells Mary about Narcisse and his wives. Apparently Estelle is his fourth. Catherine complains that the celebration is about as joyous as a clergymen's eulogy and asks why there's noone dancing though Mary is exempt in her condition. She points Conde to Greer. They dance. Greer finds Leith and they dance. Greer leaves in the middle of the dance. Mary speaks to Narcisse. Estelle is still getting ready in her chambers. Mary offers to find Narcisse another more wealthy bride and when N says he's already wed, Mary says that she and F would back an annulment. Then one of N's men comes to tell him that Estelle is gone and the guard(?) at the door has been stabbed. Narcisse goes into action. Estelle shows up at Lola's chamber all bloodied thinking she killed the man who was keeping watch with his dagger and she says she can't go back.

Lola helps Estelle wash and says they don't have much time. Mary shows up and says how Lola could do this especially after Mary told her not to. Lola explains that she had it all planned to send Estelle to some friends in the country and no one would be the wiser. Mary shoots back but that's not going to work now that Narcisse's men are crawling all over the castle. Mary tells Lola to abandon the plan because if Narcisse discovers that Lola had a hand in helping Estelle run away, then Lola's life would be in danger. Lola refuses to abandon Estelle because she sees Estelle as a person not as something to be handed over in marriage. Mary will not abandon them either. and takes Estate out through passages and dresses her as a common servant. A soldier tries to stop them but Mary uses her clout and lies that they are transporting a sacred relic to the Basilica at St. Denis for the christening. The soldier backs down and Estelle is on her way. Lola and Mary drink in her room. Mary says that she helped a friend and knew that Lola wasn't trying to hurt Mary when she slept with Francis. Lola chooses Mary as the godmother to her baby and Mary accepts. Francis is very happy that Mary decided to be godmother. She then says she remembers she left the baby's gift in their chambers so she goes back to get it. Francis goes off and Mary is in obvious pain. Conde sees her and helps her to her chambers where he sees blood. Mary confirms she's miscarrying and urges him not to say anything to anyone until after the christening.

Conde watches Mary be godmother at the christening and the baby is named John Philippe Valois Agouleme(?), first Baron of Valen (?) We see Kenna and Bash at the Christening together. It's the only scene where they are together. Greer goes to Castleroy after riding all night to tell him that she wants to marry him but he doesn't want to gamble with his happiness because he knows that she loves Leith more. He had loved her and wanted to save her but no more. He offers to let her rest her a while but essentially they are done. A servant stops Lola in the hall to tell her that Estelle jumped off a cliff before they could catch her and E said that she could hear her parents calling to her. She did not survive. Conde asks Francis how Mary is and mentions that after the ceremony that she didn't look herself. Bash then comes up and says something happened to the shepherd and Francis asks Conde and Bash to go look into it. Lola finds Narcisse caressing the body of his dead wife. Apparently Estelle had been troubled and wanted to go back to her parents and had attempted to kill herself before. Narcisse confessed about his first wife being forced by his father to conceive. There had been miscarriages and he didn't know anything about women's bodies. She died a year later and his father arranged his second wife who was a hemophiliac and she faded away. Narcisse has never been in love.Bash and Conde arrive at the shepherds home it was ransacked and apparently the shepherd killed his wife and children. He hadn't ben he same since then. he doesn't remember but he had been marked by a pitchfork. Francis sees Mary who confesses to losing the baby. She didn't tell him because Francis was so happy.

He thinks there's a reckoning. Catherine find two girls goes looking at through a door. Then they ask her to kick away some stuff keeping them there. She does, they run. Mary is feeling better and she and Francis talk about when they were children. and fireflies and he's shows her lanterns with fireflies and he wants to see what the future brings.
