When the show first began, I assumed that Elena and Caroline's relationship would be nothing more than the cliche of frenemies.
I was sure I would enjoy it, but I never knew how much I would come to cherish their friendship. I quickly realised that they were so
much more than a cliche. Whilst Elena became more and more involved in the supernatural world, it was hard for her and Caroline
to have a completely honest relationship. But Elena was always looking out for her friend and we saw evidence of this early on when
she stood up to Damon and defended Caroline. I think the moment where I really fell for them came in 1x19. When Caroline put aside
her jealousy issues and told Elena to take part in the Miss Mystic Event because her mum would have wanted her too. It was such a
mature moment for Caroline. Then their hug when she won made me melt. Elena was genuinely thrilled for her friend and I really
believed then that these two have been friends forever. With S2 their friendship has gone to a whole new level and so has my love for
them. Now they can be completely honest with each other. They can be there for each other and they have been. As well as some others,
I really think Elena is Caroline's tie to her humanity. Especially early on, when she had nobody else but Elena from her human life.
Now these two can go kick-ass together. They can face anything together and most importantly they can comfort each other. Their
scenes have become a highlight for me and I can't wait to see more! - foxyfreds


I love Caroline and Elena because after 10 years, their friendship is still evolving. They were friends since the first grade, and even
though they didnt seem that close at the start of the show, Elena stood up for Caroline and Caroline was there for her in return.
By season 2 Caroline considered Elena her best friend and Elena was the one to comfort Caroline in her time of need. The two have
just gotten stronger and stronger as the episodes go on and I cant wait to see where their SL takes them. - Andra


Caroline and Elena have come such a long way in their friendship. Even in the beginning, when their friendship was the rockiest,
you could see that they cared for each other. When Damon was hurting Caroline, it was Elena that was there for her. In Miss Mystic
Falls, Caroline put aside her own desire to win so that Elena could fulfill a promise to her mother. From then on their friendship
matured and grew. When Caroline was turned into a vampire this season, it was Elena who became one of her greatest supporters.
Caroline is also very protective of Elena, and when Elena was being threatened by Mason, Caroline kicked his butt. Literally!
Together they are stronger and bring out the best in each other. No matter what they face, they'll do it together and come out on top.

Caroline and Elena's friendship has been my favorite on the show ever since "Family Ties" aired. At first, I didn't pay much
attention to them, but in that episode something changed. The way Elena was so protective of Caroline and their hug near the end
made me realise they were closer than it seemed at first sight. And from then on, my love for them just kept growing. It grew when
Caroline encouraged Elena to remain on the Miss Mystic Falls pageant, when Elena was so genuinely happy that Caroline had won
the competition, when Elena risked her life to save Caroline's after she turned into a vampire, when Elena was the only one of
Caroline's old friends that stood by her side and helped her during the hardest time in her life and when Caroline didn't break Elena's
trust when she asked her to keep her visit to Katherine a secret. Now, their friendship isn't perfect. Far from it. But that is part of
what makes it feel so real. They'll have their disagreements and they'll have their fights, but at the end of the day, they are still
best friends and know they can count on each other in the times they need it most. And this is what true friendship is to me.
It's why I see them as the best and most touching friendship on the show. - Rita1516
