The books are pretty awesome, don't get me wrong, but the series is awesome too. I'm a big fan of both.
Not only do I think the series does a comparable job to the books, but I think it even elevates the books at certain points. I mean, come on, you had to love the Brianna v. Clegane showdown. And the
Red Wedding twist with Rob's wife made that whole scenario hit even harder.
My favorite part of the books is the consistent inclusion and working in of realm mythology and history. It adds another layer of depth that the series just can't capture unfortunately given its limited amount of time.
