Synopsis
King Cymbeline, leader of the Briton Motorcycle Club, clashes with the corrupt Roman Police while his radiant but disobedient daughter Imogen fends off assaults on her honor and her life. Cymbeline’s wife and her son aspire to take over the king’s empire, and Imogen’s marriage to Posthumus is undermined by sinister interference from Iachimo, a malevolent stranger. Director’s Statement
Apart from a 1982 BBC production, Cymbeline has never been made into a movie, yet the story is rich and resonant, and Imogen is commonly considered one of Shakespeare’s most dazzling heroines. This adaptation brings the tale into present-day America. I felt it would be worthwhile to collide Shakespeare’s 400-year-old poetry with the tensions and technology of contemporary reality.
