Top 10 Moments

#1
The Anti-Prom - 3x22
[Joey walks over to the table where Pacey is sitting alone. He has his back to her so he doesn't notice.]
Joey: I've been meaning to ask you something all night, Pacey. Would you like to dance with me?
[She takes his hand. He looks at her hand in his for a moment.]
Pacey: Yes.
[They move out to the floor and begin to dance.]
Pacey: How come this feels so right?
Joey I think it was those dance lessons.
[They both smile. He notices her earrings and touches them.]
Pacey: Where did you get those? They're not you.
Joey: Why, because I'm just a poor tom boy, or because Dawson gave them to me?
Pacey: Neither.
[He raises her hand with the bracelet on it and caresses it softly.]
Pacey: See this? This is you. It's not showy or gaudy. It's simple. Elegant. Beautiful.
[She's taken aback.]
Joey It's my mom's bracelet.
Pacey: I know.
Joey: How do you know?
Pacey: Well, because you told me. Six months ago.
[He rubs her arm.]
Pacey: You were wearing that blue sweater with the snowflakes that you have. You were walking down the hallways at school.
I was annoying you as per usual. You said, 'Look, Pacey, I just found my mother's bracelet this morning, so why don't you
cut me some slack?'
[She's happily surprised.]
Joey: You remember that?
Pacey: I remember everything.
[They dance cheek to cheek now as he rubs her back. She is affected by his touch and sways gently with him.]

#2
A Winter's Tale - 4x14
[In the cabin at the resort - Joey is standing in front of the mirror brushing her hair. Pacey walks in.]
Joey: Hey.
Pacey: Hi. May I?
Joey: Sure.
[She hands it to him and he begins to brush her hair.]
Joey: Hey Pace?
Pacey: Yeah?
Joey: Do you still have your wallet?
[He kisses her hand.]
Pacey: I thought we were done talking about that?
[She takes the brush away from him.]
Joey: We are.
Pacey: Okay.
[He pulls his out his wallet, wrapping his arms around the front of her. He opens it and grabs the condom.]
Pacey: You want to throw it away?
[She takes it from him.]
Joey: I want to throw the wrapper away.
Pacey: If this was about what I was—
Joey: Pacey… this is about how you carried my bag off the bus yesterday. This is about how when we go to the movies and
you go and you buy popcorn, you always be sure you bring back a napkin so I don't wipe all the grease on my jeans.
And this is about how just last week when we were at miniature golf you took all of the shots first so I would know
the correct path.
[She unbuttons his shirt. He sucks his breath in lightly.]
Pacey: Well, that's just—
Joey: You taught me how to drive. And last year at prom, you knew that the bracelet I was wearing was my mom's. You
kissed me first sweetheart.
[She pushes the shirt off of his shoulders.]
Joey: The second time you counted to 10 before doing it again, just in case I wanted to stop you.
[She kisses his hand.]
Joey: You bought me a wall.
Pacey: I didn't buy it so much as I—
Joey: We were alone on a boat for three months and you understood without a word why I wasn't ready.
[She takes off his undershirt.]
Joey: Do you have to ask me now why I am?
[He brushes her hair out of her eyes. They hold each others hands and caress.]
Joey: Pace, I'm going to count to ten… and then I'm going to start kissing you. If you don't want me to… you're just going
to have to stop me.
[They stare into each others eyes. She runs her hand up his arm and places it on his chest.]
Joey: Ten, my love.
[They kiss each other, all over. He carries her towards te bed and she makes a happy sigh as it fades to black and they
have sex for the first time together.]

#3
True Love - 3x23
[At the docks near the True Love - Joey is running as fast as she can, frantically looking for Pacey.]
Joey: Pacey! Pacey! Pacey! Pacey!
[She looks for him on the boat but he's not there.]
Joey: Pace? Pacey!
[He comes from around the pier.]
Pacey: You want something, Jo?
Joey: I want to talk to you!
Pacey: No, nope. It's a bit late for this now. I'm leaving, you can't stop me, so don't even try.
Joey: No, that's not why I'm here.
[He climbs aboard True Love.]
Pacey: So why are you here? Maybe you want to rub it in a little bit, huh?
[He jumps off the boat and unties it from the dock.]
Joey: Look, I don't want to stop you, Pacey. And I don't want to stop Dawson, and I don't want to be stopped. Not by either of
you, not by anyone. See, I mean, that's what this whole year's been about. We've been trying to stop each other from
moving on and from growing up. But not you. You're different. And you've challenged me every step of the way and
you've been there every step of the way.
[He walks past her.]
Pacey: Jo, departure time is in T-minus thirty seconds, so if there's a point, I suggest you get to it.
Joey: I think I'm in love with you.
[His back is towards Joey.]
Pacey: You think or you know?
Joey: I know.
[He turns to look at her.]
Joey: I've known it since the moment you kissed me and maybe even before that. And as scary as it is, I don't want to deny
it anymore, Pacey. I don't want to run from it and I don't want to let it run from me.
Pacey: So… what are we going to do here, Jo?
Joey: I want to come with you.
Pacey: What? Are you crazy?
Joey: I want to stop standing still, I want to move forward, I want to come with you.
Pacey: What about Bessie and the B&B? They need you.
Joey: Not as much as I need you, Pacey.
[He smiles at her, she smiles back. She starts to get on the boat but he stops her.]
Pacey: Uh uh uh uh!
[She smiles and raises her hand up to his.]
Joey: Permission to come aboard?
Pacey: Permission granted.
[He takes her hand and she climbs aboard. They kiss.]
Pacey: You can swim, can't you?
Joey: Of course. I'm kinda worried about the next change of clothes.
[She sits and he gets the boat going.]
Pacey: Nothing to worry about. We're gonna hit the next port in a few days.
Joey: A few days?
Pacey: Yeah. Or a few days after that.
[Joey watches as Pacey steers them off into the sunset on the True Love.]

#4
Stolen Kisses - 3x19
[Joey walks out through Aunt Gwen's yard and up to Pacey who is sitting in front of a fire. She takes a seat next to him.]
Pacey: You don't have to worry, I'm not going to kiss you again, Joey. What's going on here?
Joey: I don't know.
Pacey: Well don't you think I deserve a better answer than that after all this?
Joey: Pacey, believe me, I've been trying to get you out of my head. I've tried to pretend that this is some bizarre hormonal
glitch but it's not working.
Pacey: Do you really want it to work?
Joey: I tried to tell him.
Pacey: Really?
Joey: Yes.
Pacey: What happened?
Joey: I couldn't really find the words, Pacey, which I know is odd considering the sheer volume of words spoken
throughout the course of our relationship…
Pacey: But what would you have said to him?
Joey: I don't know.
Pacey: I don't believe you.
[She stands up.]
Joey: Pacey, I don't have any answers right now, okay. Can't you understand—
Pacey: The only reason that you don't have answers is because you've been too scared to ask yourself the right questions.
Joey: What are you talking about?
Pacey: Look, I know how I feel. YOU know how I feel. That much is obvious by now. But during this whole process, we've
managed to miss the point. Because the point is not how I feel. It's how you feel. So how do you feel?
Joey: Awful. That's how I feel, Pacey. I feel awful.
Pacey: So do I. When I was kissing you tonight, I don't think that I've ever felt better and worse at one time in my entire life.
I mean, the very idea that Dawson or Andie would find out about us is killing me. It is tearing me up on the inside to
have these feelings for you, but I can't get rid of them.
[He then stands and faces her.]
Pacey: I can't keep on kissing you, Jo.
Joey: What do you mean?
Pacey: I mean just that. *I* can't keep on kissing *YOU*, alright? I've done it twice now. I can't be the one who's always
initiating this. I can't be the one who's always giving you the answers. Look at me, Joey.
Joey: I can't.
Pacey: Please?
[She does -- tears fall to her face.]
Pacey: If you felt even one shred of what I feel for you, then we wouldn't be standing here having this conversation.
[He walks past her to leave, then she grabs his hand as he passes her.]
Joey: Pacey...
[He stops and looks down at her hand holding his. She moves closer, stands on her toes, and kisses him.]

To Green, With Love - 3x16
[Downtown Capeside - Pacey is holding Joey's hand and leads her across the street to an empty lot.]
Pacey: Come on. It's just a little bit farther, right up here. Doo dah doo dah doo. A couple more steps. Right here. Whoa, stop.
Right there. Perfect. We're here.
Joey: Pacey, I don't know where you think 'here' is, but it seems to me we're nowhere.
Pacey: Think back with me for just a second. Do you remember how this whole thing started? It started with a girl, a wall,
and a paintbrush.
[He holds up a paint brush.]
Joey: You bought me a paint brush?
Pacey: No, lame-o. I stole this from your permanent collection.
[He eyes the wall in front of them.]
Joey: You bought me a wall?
Pacey: Not bought, rented. And this thing didn't come cheap, either. It cost me a hundred bucks.
Joey: You bought me a wall?
Pacey: You said that already. Look, it's a limited time offer, so you should get cracking.
Joey: Pacey, did you fail to notice the size of this thing?
Pacey: I just thought your next endeavor should be bigger and better than your last one. I'm supporting you, you keep on
growing both as a person and as an artist. I also got you this.
[He holds up a can of paint.]
Pacey: Now I know it's not going to cover the whole thing. But as the saying goes, 'The journey of 1,000 miles begins with a
single step.'
Joey: Well, I'm gonna need your help on this one.
Pacey: No, no, no, no. Not this time. You're on your own, sister.
Joey: Pacey, you're unbelievable. I mean, as soon as I think I've got you all figured out, you go and you do something so
outrageous that... it completely challenges me in a way that no one else would even think of that... In case I don't say it
enough, thank you.
Pacey: It's about time, Potter. It's about time.
[They smile at each other as he leaves. She stares at the wall, in awe.]

... Must Come To An End - 6x24
[At the Ice House - Pacey goes into the kitchen and sees Joey looking around.]
Pacey: Hey.
Joey: Hey. I'm looking for some serving spoons.
Pacey: They're in the bin at the end.
Joey: Well, how you doing? You okay?
Pacey: Yeah. Yeah, I really am okay.
[She notices something is up with him.]
Joey: What's going on in that head of yours?
Pacey: You're off the hook.
Joey: What?
Pacey: You're off the hook. I've never really put much faith in all that 'if you love someone, set them free' crap, as evidenced
by everything I've done in my life up to this very moment. But I am determined to be happy, Joey. Happy in this life.
And I love you. I mean, I always-- I have always, always loved you. But our timing has just never been right. And the
way I figure it, time is no man's friend. So I have to get right with that and be happy, now. Because this is it. I mean,
this is all that we get. If there's one thing I've learned from losing Jen, that's what I've learned.
Joey: Pace, I—
Pacey: Actually, um, hold on. I'm not done yet. Because I also want for you to be happy. It's really important for me that you
be happy. So I want you to be with someone, whether it be Dawson or New York guy or some man that you haven't even
met yet. But I want you to be with someone who can be a part of the life that you want for yourself. I want you to be with
someone who makes you feel like I feel when I'm with you. So, I guess the point to this long run-on sentence that's been
the last ten years of our lives is just that the simple act of being in love with you is enough for me. So you're off the
hook.
[Her eyes water.]
Joey: You know what, for the record, I-- I don't want to be let off the hook. Because everything in my life that I've done has
led me here... right now, and the last thing I want, need, or deserve is to be let off somebody's hook.
Pacey: Please don't miss my point here 'cause—
Joey: And don't miss mine. Pacey... I love you. You know that. But it's very real. It's so real that it's kept me moving, mostly
running from it, never ready for it. And I love Dawson. He's my soul mate. He's tied to my childhood, and it's a love that
is pure and eternally innocent.
[She pauses, her emotions get the best of her.]
Joey: I can't be let off the hook because I might just get the notion that it's ok to keep running.
Pacey: So then, what exactly are you saying here?
[Gail interrupts, unknowingly.]
Gail: Oh Pacey, there you are. Um, we need plates.
[He points to where they are. She hugs him]
Gail: You are so sweet to open up your place like this. I love you both.
[She then hugs Joey, grabs the plates, and leaves.]
Pacey: Okay, uh... I think you were maybe just about to say something really important.
Joey: Pacey... I realized—
[Bessie walks in.]
Bessie: Joey, give me a hand.
[Bessie gets a tray and hands it to Joey.]
Bessie: Here, grab this tray. Here. How are you doing, Pacey?
[He puts his hand on his face.]
Pacey: I'm good, Bess. I'm good, thanks.
[He lets out a happy yet confused sigh as Joey goes off to help and things are left up in the air.]

#7
Castaways - 6x15
[In K-Mart - Joey is pushing Pacey down an aisle as he is sitting in a desk chair on wheels.]
Joey: I promise you this is not going to hurt.
Pacey: Now, how could you possibly make a promise like that about what it is we're about to do, seeing as you've never done it
before?
[They pull up to a table with shaving cream, razors and a bowl of water on it.]
Joey: Just because I've never done it before doesn't mean I'm not gonna be good at it. I was good at sex, wasn't I? Sorry. Forget
that. Sore subject. Anyway... you know, if you're so worried about potential blood loss, you could always do it yourself,
you know.
Pacey: Well, I think I've already displayed the fact that I just-- I lack the iron will necessary to do this.
Joey: Okay. Now... the important thing to remember is not to move. And no talking.
[She takes a towel and puts it around his neck. Leans his head back and grabs a pair of scissors.]
Joey: Last chance to bail.
Pacey: Well, it's kinda hard to tell you I want to bail if I'm not allowed to talk, isn't it?
Joey: Oh. Well, blink twice or something.
Pacey: That's no kind of solution. That presupposes that I'm gonna stop blinking. Who stops blinking? Really, that's just—
Joey: Okay, shut up.
[She begins to cut his goatee with the scissors. She turns him around and grabs two cans of shaving cream from the
table.]

Joey: Regular or menthol?
Pacey: Are we smoking or are we shaving?
Joey: Pacey Witter: friend to women. I think it's better to go with sensitive skin.
[She begins to gently put some on him.]
Joey: Okay...
Pacey: It's okay. Don't be shy.
[She begins to put it all over his face.]
Pacey: Mmm.
[He chuckles. She grabs the razor and heads towards his face.]
Joey: Okay. It's harder than legs. Although not dissimilar to knee—
[She moves down his chin and accidentally nicks him.]
Pacey: Mhhh!
Joey: Sorry.
[She kisses her finger and touches the cut. He laughs with his mouth still closed.]
Joey: There. Hello, chin. You're back!
[He laughs a little again.]
Pacey: Well, I was never really gone.
Joey: You weren't?
Pacey: Mmt-mmm.
Joey: It kinda seemed like it.
[They look deeply into each others' eyes, then he leans over and kisses her.]

#8
Stolen Kisses - 3x19
[Outside Aunt Gwen's House - Joey goes to look for Pacey and she finds him outside sitting on some picnic chairs.]
Joey: Are you okay?
Pacey: Not so much, no.
Joey: Well, what's wrong?
Pacey: Well, it's the history. It's killing me. How can a guy compete when the two of you have your own karaoke routine?
Joey: Pacey, you're not suppose to compete. We're suppose to have our own hist-- I didn't mean that.
Pacey: Well, what did you mean?
Joey: I don't even know anymore, Pacey.
Pacey: You know this little arrangement we got going between us?
Joey: Yes?
Pacey: Well, it sucks! It sucks up one side and down the other. It's uncomfortable, it's weird, and I hate every single second
of it.
Joey: Really?
Pacey: Yes!
Joey: Then why did you come here, Pacey?
[He stands up.]
Pacey: You know, for a bright girl, you can be really daft sometimes. Why do you think I came here? I came here to be with
you! It's as simple as that. When you like somebody, proximity is a good thing, regardless of how they feel about you.
Or don't as the case may be.
[He walks past her to go back into the house.]
Joey: Look, I felt it.
[He stops, turns, and looks at her.]
Pacey: What?
Joey: This morning. Your arm brushed up against me in bed and-- and I felt it.
Pacey: How did it feel?
Joey: It made me feel alive.
Pacey: Okay. Joey, I am going to kiss you now.
Joey: You can't.
Pacey: Look Jo, you can't say something like that to me and expect me not to kiss you. So that's exactly what I want to do.
I'm going to kiss you in about 10 seconds. And if you don't want me to kiss you, well then if you don't want me to,
I guess then you're just gonna have to stop me.
[He moves closer to her.]
Pacey: Ten.
[He takes her face in his hands and kisses her.]

#9
Castaways - 6x15
[In the Outdoors department of K-Mart - Pacey and Joey are lying down in separate sleeping bags.]
Joey: Hey Pace, did you—
Pacey: Put all the stuff back? Yeah. Though some of it we're gonna have to pay for, like the clothes.
[She sighs.]
Joey: Pacey, did you—
Pacey: If the next words out of your mouth are 'take out the trash,' I will officially have a preview of what it'd be like to be
married to you.
Joey: And?
Pacey: It ain't pretty.
[He laughs.]
Joey: I was going to say... Did you know?
Pacey: Did I know what?
Joey: This was a dream come true.
Pacey: Which part?
Joey: All of it.
[They roll to look at one another.]
Joey: When you and I were on the boat I used to dream that we'd be cast away somewhere. You know, your standard tropical
island with the white sand beaches and giant stars overhead. We'd wear no clothes, and we’d splash in the surf all day.
And then at night the moon would be this... well, this giant thing. And it was always full.
Pacey: I like this fantasy. I'd catch fish with my bare hands, make fire without matches.
Joey: I'd make the fires.
[He looks over at her weirdly.]
Joey: Who paid attention in science class?
Pacey: Okay. Good point.
Joey: Besides, it's my fantasy. And I guess I never told you about it before because it’s embarrassing, you know? I mean...
not at all original.
Pacey: I guess you were right about one thing.
Joey: What's that?
Pacey: There are about a thousand reasons why you and I would never work.
Joey: There's one thing in the pro column.
Pacey: What's that?
[She gets out of her sleeping bag and goes over to join him.]
Joey: It doesn't mean what you think it means.
Pacey: Well, then what does it mean?
Joey: Well... it means that... well, I'm cold.
Pacey: Oh.
[He pulls the covers over her.]
Joey: And... I'm still thinking about it.
[Beat]
Joey: I miss you, pace.
Pacey: I miss you, too.
[They fall asleep together.]

#10
The Longest Day - 3x20
[Pacey and Joey are in a shed near the pier and are having a make-out session.]
Joey: Come on. Let's go, Pacey. It's your boat we're planning on christening.
[He lifts her up onto a table in front of him.]
Pacey: I own a boat?
Joey: We have to stop doing this, it's wrong.
[He kisses on her neck.]
Pacey: Yes, dead wrong.
Joey: Pacey. Look, we've been in denial all week. I mean, when we're around other people we pretend like nothing's changed
and the minute we're alone, it turns into this.
Pacey: This what?
Joey: Well, this embarrassing grope fest.
Pacey: Yeah, I guess this is kind of embarrassing, huh? Especially for you. Given how much you protested.
Joey: I did not protest.
Pacey: You did, too.
[They kiss.]
Pacey: Wait, wait wait wait.
Joey: What?
Pacey: We gotta tell him, Jo. We do. We gotta tell him-- as soon as possible because the longer we wait, Jo, the worse it gets.
Joey: I know, Pacey. I tried. I've tried plenty of times.
Pacey: Every time I see the guy now, I just feel—
Joey: Look, you don't have to bother filling in the expletive, okay? I mean this isn't exactly the easiest thing I've ever had to
do, Pacey. Telling Dawson that while he wasn't looking, I developed this bizarre, gravitational pull towards his best
friend and I can't stop thinking about him or wanting to be near him or wanting to kiss him all the time.
[They kiss some more.]
Pacey: I'll do it.
Joey: What?
Pacey: I'll tell him.
Joey: No, I can't let you do that, it's... this is my responsibility.
Pacey: Jo, it's not your responsibility. I'm the one that started this, remember? I'm the one that got you into this situation.
And frankly, the only way I'n gonna save my friendship with Dawson is to be completely honest with him. So I gotta
do this. All I need is one day. Just one day.
Joey: One day.
Pacey: Yes, one day.
Joey: You gotta learn to read between the banter, Pacey.
Pacey: The thought of losing her or hurting her... it's not even a consideration.
