Honestly my only problem with Bash and Mary is Bash didn't exist historically. So he was created for the show for the purpose of having a love triangle. Now, within the show that doesn't matter because within the show he exists, but I'm a history major who is over the love triangle concept in general, so while I don't dislike Bash as a character, I can't get behind him and Mary. I don't have overly strong feelings toward Francis and Mary either, but I do prefer them.
