Why I Dig Shamy - a testimonial

To me, Sheldon and Amy are, as individuals, uniquely fascinating. Despite their quirky idiosyncrasies, both characters are written and portrayed superbly and believably. Much of the appeal of The Big Bang Theory rests in its portrayal of characters who are decidedly different from the norm, yet who manage to function – on some working level - in situations where many of the people with whom they interact respond with everything from head-shaking disbelief to outright ridicule. For anyone who has dealt with ostracization for any reason, it’s easy to relate to these characters and Sheldon and Amy are the supreme examples of that.

As a couple, Sheldon and Amy compound what makes them each so interesting as individuals. They have each found a complementary kindred spirit in the other. Watching the Shamy relationship evolve truly supports the old saying that “There’s a lid for every pot”; which is undeniably appealing to the romantic in all of us. Unlike the majority of on-screen romances, the sometimes agonizingly slow progress of the Shamy allows the viewer to truly follow, dissect and analyze the evolution of attraction, compatibility and love between these two people. Which is why we can indulge ourselves in Wall-O-Text posts that examine every minute word, action, facial expression or nuance of voice. As frustrating as it sometimes is, the pace prolongs the sweet joy that is Shamy.
