And as for Xander I think it would be good to work in a Buffy/Xander hook up.... Not them dating just a moment of vulnerability.... Xander because of losing Anya and Buffy.... Well her always feeling alone and leading a group of girls and all that. I guess their hook up would echo that of the satsu hook up she had in s8..... Which btw I thought was totally pointless and out of character for Buffy to hook up with a girl.... But whateves.... But year I wouldn't mind a Buffy/Xander one nighter then things are awkward for a while then everything accidentally comes out into the open to the rest of the gang and then things are normal, and they're back to the friendship they used to to have.
I don't like this personally. Its pretty clear that Buffy doesn't care about Xander that way. She simply doesn't find him attractive in any way and probably never will. He is also simply not in her league. She had three superman grade embodiments of every females wet dream hopelessly fall in love with her and even two of THEM she treated like crap at some point.

She absolutely doesn't need him in any way. Worst possible scenario is if she really wants some action she just seduces a random normal guy she finds attractive(e.g. somebody who looks like a Superman but doesn't have powers and is a relatively easy prey), keeps him for a couple of nights then ditches him.

I like this from a story perspective too. I fraknly find that lame and fanfic quality(not that I don't like fanfics but we are talking about something replacing official stuff, e.g. weird ships no matter how entertaining aren't usable) if main cast members only fall in love with each other. And then what? They rotate partners so eventually everybody "experiences" everbody? No I think everybody who doesn't have an established relationship by now should get a partner from outside of the current main cast. Preferably a new character or a barely fleshed out one.

Definitely agree on the Dawn front, she needs a stable Angel-like love interest that's her one true love and yada yada, but the question is would he be vamp, demon or human? I definitely wouldn't want her to end up with a Riley, and you can always make a human love interesting..... Just not Riley's standards of interesting.
Frankly I'd first determine what kind of character he is. Which archetype, what makes him special and a worthy addition to the roster as well as a worthy lover for a Summers girl. This is where advanced characterization skills would come in handy.
Its isn't easy considering how even Joss himself spectacularly failed with Riley in this department.
