3x11 – The Safe Harbor



Summer: What if it doesn’t have to end?
Ryan: Winter break?
Summer: No, the four of us being together. It’s a new year, but it’s our last chance. Senior photos are this Friday, the Harbor class of 2006 will be immortalized in the yearbook for like all time. Marissa has to be part of that picture.
Ryan: Are you saying what I think you’re saying?
Summer: Yes. The dirty dean, he’s gone, right? And Dr Kim, she’s always seemed pretty reasonable.
Ryan: Yeah, but the board kicked out Marissa, not Dr Kim. Plus, there’s all those concerned parents-
Summer: Whatever! Out of sight, out of mind. Time heals all wounds? If you love something set it free? No? Maybe they’re over it.
Ryan: Yeah, this town’s real forgiving.

Summer: Ryan, what if the four of us can all finish senior year together?
Ryan: Summer’s planning operation free Marissa.
Seth: Oh.
Summer: Yes, secure some key allies, go behind enemy lines…
Seth: You been watching the war channel again?
Summer: Yes, it’s the new Food Network.
Seth: I’m always up for a little danger and intrigue.
Summer: See?
Ryan: You guys seriously want to do this? Ok, all right, but we don’t tell Marissa until we have a plan.
Summer: Cheers! To getting Marissa back where she belongs.
Seth: Anyone have an idea how we do that?





Summer: Hey, there’s Ryan.
Ryan: Hey, can’t talk, got an appointment with Dr Kim.
Summer: What are you going to say?
Ryan: Just going to come right out and ask.
Summer: All right, direct approach. I like it. Good luck!



Summer: Don’t tell me there’s a problem with the t-shirts, or I might freak out.
Ryan: The t-shirts are fine, they’re in the car. It’s Marissa. I just came from Union, she got a call from Chilli and took off. Something I should know?
Summer: Well, there might be a slight issue.
Ryan: Right.
Summer: No, not like an “issue” issue, a friend issue. A Johnny issue. She’s afraid she might be abandoning him.
Ryan: Of course she is.
Summer: Wait! Stand down, private. It’s the way she’s wired, you wouldn’t love her if she wasn’t. She wants to come back here and she told Johnny just like she said she would. If you want to get mad and punch somebody or something, why not Taylor’s mom? You need to get your ass back into gear and start handing out some buttons.





Marissa tells them that she can’t go back to Harbor.



Ryan: We got to leave in an hour and no sign of Marissa.
Summer: So what are you guys saying?
Seth: That this was a valiant campaign.
Ryan: Yeah, really valiant.
Seth: One any general would be proud of.
Summer: Surrender much? I bet Napoleon never talked like this.
Ryan: Well maybe he should have right before he was defeated and exiled.

Summer: Well, can’t we wait a couple of minutes before we raise the white flag? She’s always late, I mean maybe she got lost or something.



Seth: Summer, we can’t wait any longer. Marissa’s not coming.
Summer: Ok. Fine.
Ryan: Alright, I’ll tell Sandy.



They all attend the meeting.



They celebrate afterwards.
