Well, Gold has already taught some of his magic to Emma, so I would like to see more of that!! Moreover, she's the Savior so it could help that she knows it, to protect herself and other people

I think there was an interview where TPTB said Gold would teach Emma magic or be interested in her magic or something

He hit her in the shoulder not in the chest, and he's a good gunman it seems...

I think it's the scene where he shoots Belle at the Storybrooke crossing point and she loses her memory.

Guns are useless if your opponent can use magic, same with swords but at least in that desparate situation, they were trying to protect their loved ones with what they've got.
