OK, dramatically, his explanation has to be rushed. That just isn't a moment where you stop the rush towards action by bogging it down with complex explanations that detract from the emotional drive of the scene.
That aside, man, that was not the way to go.
And I have been thinking of every scenario I can for someone (maybe Pongo) to jump up at the funeral and say, "He's not dead, you idiots!"
Oh, and another thing: Couldn't they have shot the funeral from a different angle, so we had more of a sense of a crowd and not a sense of who was and wasn't there - like, oh, I don't know,
