I think it is pretty clear that Andie was a much better match for Pacey and helped keep him stable. However, just because his family had affected him badly he still shouldn't have behaved like he did. For example the way he treats his brother Doug throughout the series by calling him gay and insinuating this even before he has came out is something that isn't necessary and that was used for comedy but I think it just made him look like a jerk.
