Wish Upon A Star Goes Digital

In 1996, Katherine headlined Wish Upon A Star, a Leucadia Film Corporation TV movie directed by Blair Treu which aired extensively on the Disney Channel during the mid-1990's. The family comedy, which also starred Danielle Harris, Don Jeffcoat and Lois Chiles, was one of the most popular films broadcast on the channel for several years.

For the first time in the US, Wish Upon A Star recently become available to view on-demand, through the internet streaming media service Netflix. The film was initially released on VHS by Warner Home Video in 1997 before a DVD version first became available in 2001. It was also reissued for the home entertainment market in 2004 by Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Wish Upon A Star was shot on location at Hunter High School in West Valley City, Utah in late 1995 and early 1996. The film focuses on Alexia Wheaton (Katherine Heigl) and her younger sister Hayley (Danielle Harris). When Hayley, envious of her sister's looks and popularity, makes a wish, it comes amazingly true. The car keys, the guys, the too-cool-to-care friends - suddenly they are all Hayley's. And Alexia gets... well, Alexia gets good and angry. Life among the clueless Hayleys of the world is no life for someone sure a just-right accessory is the dividing line between humanity and lower life forms.

The two switch bodies - Alexia becomes fashion-challenged Hayley, Hayley becomes stylin' Alexia and the complications arrive fast and furious!

In the UK, Wish Upon A Star can be viewed via Amazon's Love Film streaming service.
