With that in mind, I just hope we get a little something on Thursday. I won't call it closure, because they treated these two so terribly this season that it could never be closure for me...but some sort of acknowledgement of what they had before he leaves, will at least be a starting block when he returns

If he can even do as little as saying that he's sorry or something along those lines, then at least at the bare minimum the foundation is there for when he comes back.
I have a grand hope of something happening when he's gone and one of Klaus' minions are up to something and instead of Elena being there it was Bonnie... but of course, it wasn't. Maybe next time but knowing JP, probably not then either.
