Well, I don't know if it was the software upgrade, but I was able to browse and post to on my phone yesterday without any prompt to download an app. ... Voila. Maybe it's just a Google-Android marketing scheme for new phone activations and, because they're Google, they literally have the power to block sites as a means to convince you.
