I think Sav is the one who's only on screen with Holly J or otherwise he literally isn't on screen and everyone knows full well that when he is on-screen that it will be about someone else and their issues and not Sav's. Holly J at least can be on screen without Sav whereas Sav is really left with no choice but to stay with Holly J no matter what she does just for the sake of of getting screen time which in this case isn't much for Sav.

Well, Sav had some scenes in the beginning of the Boiling Point that didn't include Holly J, but now, yeah, she's really all he has to give him plots besides Alli. And yes, Holly J could easily be a stand-alone character if the writers let her, unlike Sav, because, as you said, she doesn't need Sav to have a plot on the show. But I feel like the writers aren't doing that with her. They're just letting this relationship hold her character back.
