Lake Rawley: Loch Raven Reservoir

In the northern suburbs of Baltimore, about ten kilometers north-north-east of Tryconnell (exterior of Rawley Boys') and Maryvale (Rawley Girls'), about thirty kilometers north of Tide Point (YA production HQ, sets for interior of Rawley Boys) and Locust Point, lies Loch Raven Reservoir (Lake Rawley), made in 1881 by damming the Big Gunpowder Falls River.

Below is a springtime view of the docks of the Loch Raven Fishing Center, used as the docks of Rawley Boys'. The configuration of penninsulas jutting out into the lake should seem familiar:

Below, left, is the summer view from the Fishing Center just to the right of the docks -- the same view shown in YA episode 3, whilst Bella and Paige talk about Scout after watching "Bell, Book and Candle" at Bengie's Drive-In. -- Below, right, is the same view that serves as the setting for Finn's swimming practice for the crew team in YA episode 1, the symbolic baptism following Finn's catechism about listening to the lake. One can identify the very same trees.

Below, left, is the Loch Raven Fishing Center, used as the boathouse of Rawley Boys'. -- And yes, Loch Raven has ducks. And geese. And swans, which, sadly, Antin neglected to film!

Postscript re Tyrconnell: In episode 7 of YA, the scene in which Caroline reads back to Will the poem that Ryder bought from him and gave to her is set on the back side of Tyrconnell -- it matches, perfectly, the Maryland Historic Trust photo shown four posts back on this thread.
