I've always felt he went to Babylon for himself, without thinking about the possibility of seeing Brian there. I think he went there to unwind after what had happened with Ethan. And maybe also as a spite towards Ethan, because he had given up the club because Ethan didn't like that life but then it was all for nothing since Ethan betrayed his trust.
I don't feel like he went to Babylon with the conscious thought he would see Brian or even the hope to see him.
