Rawley Girls' - "The Castle" at Maryvale Prep

The building used for "Rawley Girls'" in Young Americans is "The Castle" at Maryvale Preparatory School, a Catholic girls' school in Brooklandville, Maryland, a northern suburb of Baltimore.

"The Castle" at Maryvale, front side -- where Jacqueline Pratt meets and says goodbye to her mother in YA episode 5.

The back side of "The Castle" at Maryvale. These are the steps up and down which Jacqueline Pratt runs in YA episode 5 between lunch with her mother and Hamilton Fleming's motorboat ride to and from the first heat of the regatta.

Given that Maryvale is run by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, it must have felt all too familiar to Katherine Moennig, who attended high school at that order's Notre Dame de Namur Academy, a girl's school in Villanova, Pennsylvania, a western suburb of Philadelphia. As Krudski might say: "Life's so weird!"

But there is a difference. Notre Dame de Namur Academy has a crew rowing team. Maryvale, sadly, does not.
