Jim is a detective. Callie is a single mom raising her young son alone while her husband is in prison for stealing. Jim and Callie meet. And well, sparks fly. He helps her out with her son. And she helps him with his cases. They begin to grow closer!

Matt Passmore on his character Jim Longworth's interest in Callie Cargill (Kiele Sanchez): "He sees a hot girl in a nurse's uniform. There's no saintliness about that. But then it turns out she's got a kid. She turns out to be pretty intelligent, and she's a Floridian. So he can bounce stuff off of her. At the same time, he thinks she's pretty hot. He didn't realize what he was getting himself into. It's a fine line. We're talking about a married woman with a child. You don't mess around with a single mom [whose husband is in prison]."
Callie Cargill (Kiele Sanchez) works as a nurse while attending medical school. She's completely devoted to her studies and to her 12-year-old son, Jeff, who she's been raising on her own ever since her husband, Ray, was sent to prison. Attractive and intelligent, she quickly catches the eye of Jim Longworth, for whom she continues to have complex feelings.
Executive producer Gary Randall on chemistry between Matt and Kiele: "We had kismet. This cast instantly became friends. When Kiele first came down to test for the role of Callie and Matt read opposite her, the sparks were just flying."
