Sorry this took so long. My life went a little crazy on me. Here are the first of the Competition sides:
scene 9- Olivia Lyons, once a young rocker, now older, pretty, using all her money to stay current. David says here she is, he told her. David leads in a shoeless (WTF?) Alicia. David says meet Alicia Florrick (he emphasizes her last name). Olivia says Mrs. Florrick, I think I’ll probably be turning to you for advice on how to bounce back after this. Alicia smiles politely, a show horse. David says first things first, he and Alicia were just talking about their ask and she worries that their eyes might be bigger than their stomachs. Alicia says the pre-nup makes this very difficult. Olivia says she was young and stupid and signed everything, all his hit records were before they married. Alicia says his? She realizes and says oh, Olivia Lyons of Max Lyons. Olivia says yes, soon to be ex-Max Lyons. Alicia apologizes, says she didn’t know. Olivia says it’s okay, she’s being replaced by a younger model, she can go to couples therapy, make compromises, get a facelift but she can’t be 28 again. Alicia smiles an understanding smile then the door opens and three people and two dogs enter. Shaina asks the chairs? Shaina is the 28 year old, newer version of Olivia. David Lee says they are naugahyde and his belt is plastic, all PETA approved. Shaina nods approving to Max Lyons. Max is 50s, wears sunglasses, coasting on his reputation now and obsessing on his PETA cause. He has the dogs. Olivia says she thought it was just going to be them to Max. Max says Shaina wanted some air and tells the dogs to sit. The dogs don’t sit but Shaina pulls up a chair. Their lawyer Warren asks David if his client has emotionally dealt with her pre-nup. David says she’s gone further; she’s realized their offer is unacceptable. Max keeps trying to get the dogs to sit. Olivia asks Max if he really thinks after all they’ve been through together that 200000 a year if fair? Max says his dad made 25000 a year in the stock yards and he made 30 a gig his first tour. He thinks she can survive. Alicia sees Kalinda outside the office with a folder. She taps David’s arm and he says they’ll be right back and offers chocolate M&Ms.
10- hallway- Kalinda shows copies to Alicia and David. Kalinda says Max is on probation for a 2007 possession charge but that he got an exemption to be out of the country this weekend. David is confused and says okay, and asks if he should be impressed. Kalinda says flight reservations to Bora Bora and rental of a room to accommodate 80. Alicia says they’re getting married. Kalinda nods and says if they make tomorrow’s court date. David says well then won’t it be sad when they miss it. How did you get this stuff? Kalinda says friends. David takes the folder and starts back in inviting Kalinda to join them.
11- Kalinda follows Alicia and David in. David says so 200000 per ann right? Asks for a few days to consider it. Warren says no, they need an answer now or they walk. Max looks at Kalinda’s leather jacket and asks if it’s faux. She says no it’s real, beautiful and made from the skin of a dead cow. David says they just need another day to consider things. Warren says if they need another day then they’re out of there. Alicia says let them go. David says Alicia not to take out her aggressions on this. Alicia says it’s an insult, 200000 a year, let them walk. David nods, maybe she’s right. Warren watches them, trades a nervous look with Shaina. Warren says they can to 250000 but they need an agreement now. Kalinda leans back and puts her leather boots on the table. Kalinda tells Max that she thinks these are faux, no they’re real too. Warren says 300000 but that’s it and they go into court with a signed agreement. Alicia and David look toward Olivia. Olivia tells max he got his wish.
12- Cary’s office- Cary has a stack of files open beside him, going through them, on the phone. Cary says sorry Mr. Danforth, they’re trying to collect on all accounts and he’d usually have their accounting department do it but he thought he’d give it a personal touch. Cary sees Alicia passing through the bullp2n, he reaches over with his foot and kicks the door closed. Cary says great sir and asks if he could do him a favor, it would really help a lot if he got it to them by Friday, our quarterly reports look better.
