Given how often certain celebrities are all "woe is me" about the paps, it's sometimes hard to believe when a relatively famous person manages not to be photographed at an event. LA parties are full of people very eager to put themselves in front of every camera within a ten-block radius, so it probably wasn't that hard to avoid them if Josh was in fact there and trying to do just that. Though he and Diane have been more open about their relationship recently, they still seem sincere in their desire not to put it on display.
And on the Vancouver note, maybe BC (British Columbia, the province Vancouver is in) is what people mean instead of VC.
