I don't necessarily have objection to it when there's none of the main cast involved. If any of them had come back, I would have shaken my head and told them to get the eff out of there and go out into the big world. The movie musical is back and the reality is that now any movie musical that is made of this sort (set in high school) will be compared to HSM - so as long as Disney are going to make an all human movie musical set in high school, why label it as something else? It would be considered another HSM anyway.
Do I think it'll have the same magic? No, probably not. But if its got singing and dancing and they've hired a cute guy to play a lead role, sure I'll watch, what is the harm in watching?
