Actor Zach Braff went to bat for Hay’s music when he landed on “Scrubs.”
“The creator of the show, Bill Lawrence, came to see me live,” Hay said, “and he said, ‘Why aren’t your songs on the radio?’”
Hay ended up making a memorable cameo in a 2002 episode of “Scrubs,” playing an acoustic version of “Overkill.”
“I’m forever indebted to him,” Hay said.
Other Hay songs were used on the show as well.
