Finally watched this episode last Friday. To be honest the only time the show held my attention was when Jane's storyline was on the screen. I loved the troubled family dynamic her family has. It's for plots like these that I wish things could drag on longer. It's an interesting family history there with the falling out between her Mom and Dad...I bet the signs of sexual abuse where there the whole time. I wonder if the show is ever going to tackle a sexual abuse issue while it's happening. They'd probably have to start with a younger character, maybe a grade 9, and have signs there that she or HE (It would be nice to see this subject tackled. It does happen. It's just no one wants to talk about it.) is being sexually abused.

Anyway...going back on topic. It was so nice to see Lucas around again. His reactions were interesting; the bitterness about the fact that Dad paid more attention to Sis and then the oh wow, so that's what was going on reaction. Then finally the anger he has about not being able to protect her. It seemed very realistic.

Neither parent wants poor Izzy. LOL. Can they please use her for the next next generation and she's a total basketcase? No but seriously, all the Mia/Izzy lack of interaction made me realize that during her episodes in season 7, there was this part of me that wanted her to have a "normal" teenage life and not have her responsibilities. It was sort of an awkward feeling to have and I actually felt bad about it...and now I realize that I enjoyed feeling that. I think there's a plot about Mia and her modeling coming up in a later episode (haven't seen it) so maybe I should expand more on this later.

The B-plots...I don't know if it's the hiatus that makes me have to almost remember how to watch Degrassi. Sometimes there's this slow pace to it that I have to adjust myself to. I don't really mind the innocence some b-plots have normally. Probably good to have something light-hearted while this heavy A-plot happens eh?

I still can't take the Sav, Anya gang seriously. I think they just had a terrible introduction (STICKER BOOKS, not knowing how to kiss, this annoying naive nature about them). Ah well. Give em another season...or a rape or abuse storyline (that always seems to work) and I'm sure I'll warm up.
