I just watched the first three seasons last month on hulu, but I remember, after I watched the first episode, I got impatient with the shows during the first season if David wasn't on. The first thing I would do was look for his name in the credits, and, if I didn't see it, I would be severely disappointed. For me, their relationship was THE relationship to care about. Everybody else was just superfluous.
