He gets out of the car, reaching behind his seat and grabbing something out of the grocery bag. She looks at him with interest, trying to figure out what he’s got up his sleeve. When he crooks his finger at her, she sighs, but does as he motioned, and gets out of the car.
“What are we doing here, Nathan?” smiling at him when he passes her a cherry popsicle. She doesn’t particularly want it, but she takes it anyway.
He doesn’t say anything, just cocks his eyebrow at her, a smirk playing over his kissable lips as he continues to motion her to him.
“It’s my turn to pick,” he reminds her, the twinkle in his eye what leads her to figure out what he means. “Yes, it is,” he nods when she shakes her head, starting to back towards the car. “Haley, come here.”
Still shaking her head, she makes her way around the car to him, her fingers dragging along the paint on the hood. “It might be your turn, but this is not on the picking list.”
“There is no list,” he grins easily, catching her small hand in his much larger one, “That’s the whole point, Hales.”
She rolls her eyes, trying to ignore the sweet sensation of his fingers tracing over her knuckles, his thumb circling over the pulse point in her wrist.
“This – this isn’t our apartment,” she points out futilely, gesturing around her as if he doesn’t know what she’s talking about, “That’s for in the apartment, Nathan! That’s where you get to pick from!”
His grin just widens at that, as he takes the popsicle from her, setting it on the hood of the car. “Remember when we were talking about how I’ve done a lot of things? Things that you haven’t done, more things than you have done?” She nods warily at him, her eyes never leaving his face. “This isn’t something I’ve done before, Hales. This is something that we could do together, and it’d be a first for both of us.”
