first off, it was never implied that it was a dangerous neighborhood. It was the Upper East Side for christs sakes, its not like Chuck hangs out in bad neighborhoods. There was taxis and a subway I am sure all around him and lots of people, who weren't all attacking him btw to rob him. Dan deserved that for wanting to exploit Chuck to writing a story on him. I would think this way no matter who it was Dan was doing this to.
