Gold Derby by Tom O'Neil -- Inside track: Emmy race for lead actor in a drama
Since the nominees for TV's top award are a lot like TV reruns, there's a good chance we'll see most of last year's nominees for outstanding lead actor in a drama series return when bids are unveiled on July 16.
Judging panels will not be used this year to whittle down final nominees after evaluating sample episodes submitted by the top 10 voter-getters determined by a popular vote of members of the TV academy's acting branch. This year, six nominees (instead of the traditional five) will be decided by an outright popular vote, so that makes predicting the outcome much easier.
Sure bets probably include last year's nominees Gabriel Byrne ("In Treatment"), Michael C. Hall ("Dexter"), Jon Hamm ("Mad Men"), Hugh Laurie ("House M.D.) and 2008 winner Bryan Cranston ("Breaking Bad"). That leaves room for just one more. Serial past winner James Spader ("Boston Legal"), who made last year's rundown? Previous champ Kiefer Sutherland ("24"), who had to sit out the last Emmy derby due to the writers strike? Hot new rookie Simon Baker ("The Mentalist")? Past champ Michael Chiklis ("The Shield")? Overdue past nominee Denis Leary ("Rescue Me")?

Warner Bros. Scores Bulgarian Output Deal
SOFIA/BURBANK: Central European Media Enterprises' (CME) PRO.BG is to become the new Bulgarian home for TV series, feature films and animated series from Warner Bros. International Television Distribution (WBITD) via a multiyear output deal announced today that includes the hit shows Fringe and The Mentalist.
The Bulgarian broadcaster has already made a substantial investment in its content slate, picking up the rights to key sporting events such as UEFA’s Champions League and Europa League, as well as the local Bulgarian A league. With the WBITD deal, effective this month, the channel scores the rights to J.J. Abrams' Fringe, CBS's hit drama The Mentalist, Jerry Bruckheimer's new show Dark Blue and John Wells' latest NBC show, Southland. On the movie front, PRO.BG will be able to air The Last Samurai, Ocean’s Eleven, Training Day and Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, among others.
- Here's a fun old Ben sighting:
This is probably the same week Ben did the interview for T4 Let's Bottle Bohemia.

Sightings. I failed to mention how Emily (Law people have ended their exams here) spotted Benjamin McKenzie at ChinaWhite earlier this week.
First of all, you ask, where'd I hear/see that name Ben McKenzie? He's Ryan from the O-friggin-C. The actress who plays Kirsten was there too (don't know her name though). He supposedly looks much better in person (like how is that even possible, right!) , and was making out with some girl.

He was so nice and he is better looking in person. <3 He's really easy to talk to. I always thought I'd be shy if I met him but I wasn't at all. We talked like "old" friends who just ran into each other. He's one of my favorite actors! | | | Cool, thanks for posting I love how so many people say he's better looking in person and that he's very nice __________________ Icon:Hayat If you pursue the pop-culture thing and indulge yourself in it, go to all the events and get yourself on the cover of Us Weekly every week, that fame is fleeting,It's not a road you can navigate for a long time.
