So, I'm kind of confused. The scene with Sam and Daphne at the lake, we see Daphne take off her shirt and there are those scares on her back that Sookie had. So does that mean that she got attacked, too?
The doctor seemed to think it was like a komodo dragon - it would slowly weaken the prey until the dragon could eat them. I think that was a total misdirection on the writer's part. I would take a guess that it's someway for the (minotaur?) guy to take control of people. So yeah, Daphne's got one now too and it looks like it's started to heal over, which disproves the doctor's dragon theory. It probably means she was "infected" before Sookie. Maybe even before she started working at Merlotte's - which could mean she was planted there. Who would want someone in Merlotte's watching over Sam and Tara? Maryann.

Minotaur... the picture of Pan over Maryann's pool... wait a minute... The woman in the picture was the mother of pan... Maryann said "she could be any one of us"... If theories are permitted here, I'd like to go out on a limb and say that Maryann would be Pan's mother. The horned creature would then be Pan, who spends most of his time disguised as an enormous pig, or a guy named Carl.

Pan:
The parentage of Pan is unclear; in some myths he is the son of Zeus, though generally he is the son of Dionysus, with whom his mother is said to be a nymph.

Dionysus:
In classical mythology, Dionysus or Dionysos (pronounced /ˌdaɪ.ɵˈnaɪsəs/; Greek: Διόνυσος or Διώνυσος) is the god of wine, the inspirer of ritual madness and ecstasy.
