| I'm not too big on romance, and I made the mistake to read the book after all the buzz arout it had started, I had some friends of mine read it and found it super cool, so I thought there was more than just the romance, that they addressed the vampire theme too.
Instead vampires here play baseball, sparkles in the sun, and are richer than Bill Gates - there is pretty much nothing else.
And Edward's love for Bella, basically she's like a giant chocolate cake he chose to smell without tasting, lol. I knew there were more books to the saga so I thought there would be more doubts and conflicts from each side about declaring themselves so in love. Bella from a certain point on just whines that he can't leave her, and Edward keeps repeating that it's in her interest if he stays away, but it never does it.
The worst part they translated in the movie? The way she simply leaves Jasper and Alice at the hotel like they weren't supposed to follow each step she takes given their special sense, and she appears in front of her house where the bad vampire led her to a trap in 1 second. In the second part they chopped off so many parts all the tension went out of the window.
And really, I even like Robert Pattinson, but he can't play a Greek god, almost angel-looking figure like Edward is supposed to be. |
