I have posted this on the SPN Board episode thread, too, but here comes my thoughts about 4.14...I hope you don´t mind.
After all these con stuff I was finally able to watch this episode.
I like this episode - it was really interesting to see how this boys grow further apart. And it hurt like hell of course to watch it.
I haven´t said the enough before but I truly LOVE BOBBY!!! He rocks in his few little scenes. When I saw him in the kitchen it felt somehow that he didn´t belong there but it was really funny and I like to see him more on ramdom places. And in the end when he comes to the rescue and saved the day was soooooooooooo awesome!
The tension between the boys were build the whole episode. Here a lie from Sam, there some unspoken words from Dean and then the showdown in the hotelroom. I can see where Sam is coming from and why he reacted in a more angry hurtful way then Dean. Before the hotelroom Dean has hurt him when he didn´t trust him on the phone and brought Madison up. And I think that Dean is wrong that Sammy is still there in Sam. Deep down in him there is still a little bit of Sammy left - who looks for his brother approval and understanding. And with Dean not trusting Sam - I believe that exactly that place was hurt. As you all know already is that I am a Samgirl and I kind of can understand his point of view but his words to Dean were to harsh. I felt so sorry for Dean when Sam called him weak. And when he came up with Deans time in hell - he really hit a lowpoint. For the first time I was more on Deans side then Sammy. Although I can totally see where both arguments are coming from.
And the end scene broke my heart again. It couldn´t be more clear that they are so far away from being good as it is possible. Why couldn´t Bobby stay around and look after the boys. Obviously he noticed that they weren´t ok at all.
