Their last scene in the car when he tries to understand Sam and apologize that he was to hard on him is exactly what Sam needs and not one who blames him for what he is or what he can do.
Great post! I agree with everything basically, especially the parts I quoted! Sam needed understanding, if only for a moment for someone to say, "I know, Sam, I know." It's lonely when you're the only of your "kind", Sam needed a pat on the back every now and then, not a smack.

I love the Frodo/Sam analogy, I agree with it entirely.
