Really enjoyed this episode (except that I wanted to see Barry the Basehead again before the end of the season). I thought it was as strong as the pilot, and it seemed to involve more of the cast in each storyline.

So, that was the shirtless scene? I hoped we'd get to see a bit more than that. I am glad to see the back of Daisy. She was just using Ben and obviously contacting her ex behind Ben's back. Poor Ben looked so lonely at the end. It was a holiday weekend and he was left all alone. He should have gone and hung out with Chickie or something.

I know we didn't get much Ben/John, but they seem a lot more comfortable with each other now. John is a lot less abrupt and lot more relaxed during their conversations in the car. And Ben managed to look at a dead, mutilated body without throwing up this time. So, that's progress!

Also, loved the way John looked at Cesar at the end. I am glad he has someone around.

I hope Russell doesn't die. TES had a real Guy Patterson from That Thing You Do vibe going last night when he reunited with his wife - and I loved him so much as Guy.

Sal needs to stop stalking his kid and do some work. Like go and save Russell's life.

I think that's the last we've seen of Dewey but I think we'll find out more about his influence on Chickie next season. She should have refused to get in the car with him right from the start. He must have some kind of hold over her. I am glad she was OK.

Lydia was awesome. She is such an amazing character, really strong but also sympathetic and compassionate. I am so glad nothing happened to her or Janilla and that Janilla's finally in the witness protection programme. It's a shame that it took a shoot-out at Lydia's house for Janilla to finally get the institutional support she should have had at the start.

Sammy is adorable how he is so protective of Janilla. Tammy just couldn't care less. She's so self-centred, it's unbelievable. I am surprised she actually likes Richter.

And we need more Nate next season. I know Kevin A has been shooting Weeds alongside Southland so he wasn't always available, but he is too hot not to have more focus on him next season. I also think the two detectives who work with Sammy/Nate/Sal (Kenny No-Gun and that big guy) are really good. I know they're only supporting cast, but they do it well.

ETA: Really good review of the finale from EW.com
