| I was thinking that yesterday, about Mother's Day, when I saw my neighbors Margaret and Barbara, neither of whom ever had kids, and both their mothers are long gone. So if you don't have kids for whatever reason (or your kids hate you/have nothing to do with you on Mother's Day/or any other time), you would feel bad, and if your Mother has passed, you would miss her and feel bad - kind of a tough holiday for lots of people, one way or another! I don't think they should have holidays that make people feel bad, but I suppose there's no way around that. A lot of my friends are single/never married/never had kids, and their Mom's are gone so - Mother's Day not a good holiday for them!
I remember when I was little and watched Captain Kangaroo (yes, I was very little then), his show used to have a song: "It's another be good to Mother day..." and I thought it meant it was Mother's Day (again) and I couldn't understand why those Mothers got so many holidays, and why wasn't there ever a Kids' Day?
Of course, most mothers would say that every day is 'kids' day'. Although I think in Japan they do have Boy and Girl Day holidays, too.
It was 45oF again this morning here and it's the middle of May! I think my friend is right and we're having 'global cooling' and not 'global warming.' Although I suppose if your climate is messed up, it's bad no matter what direction it's headed. sigh.
Oh that financial planning test sounds like the CPA exam my friend had to take - it's very very hard, and it had 3 parts and she studied like the devil and took it over and over again. And now she has to take another called the CIA exam (? certified internal auditor) and same thing all over again. She is jus so good and disciplined and studies, studies, studies for it! I know I couldn't do that. Anyway, hope Em passes with flying colors and impressed Liz did it first try. Your gals are smarties. And with the economy in such a mess, everybody needs financial advice so I think it's a great field.
I thought Brad Pitt was kindof hot for awhile, even though I don't usually care for blond men. I liked him in "Meet Joe Black" and some of his other earlier movies. shrug. Glad to hear the Benjamin Button-ness is getting ignored/thumbs down. Somebody said it's more of a clever parlor trick, with the special effects, than an actual movie.
The Star Trek movie made ~$75 million opening weekend - didn't top 'Wolverine' but did very well. I know the people who saw it with me Saturday were planning to go see it again ASAP. I'm not that big a Trekkie anymore. Wouldn't mind seeing it again, if my kids want to go or something, but not in any breathless rush, don't plan to buy the DVD etc. It was good but... ... it wasn't 'Twlight'!
Although not completely true - I want those ST glasses from Burger King! Except we never eat at BK (or McD); but Mr ML gets lunch there sometimes so - maybe.
I read someplace RobP saying he put out his recycling and had like 300 cans of Coke - so no WONDER he can't sleep! Too much caffeine. Way way too much caffeine.
Some MOnday RobP goodness: __________________ Jason B is #1 with me "I'm with the vampires"
