A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET - It is being *CONFIRMED* that Jackie Earle Haley is playing Freddy Krueger in the new movie. While I prefer Englund of course, this does give hope. After all, Haley is an Oscar nominated actor!. He was a child star in the 70's appearing in a few of the Bad News Bears films, before becoming washed up and disappearing. In the last few years, he popped up in a number of films. He was Oscar nominated for his portrayal of a sex offender(shades of Freddy?) in the Kate Winslet film, "Little Children". Most recently, he played Rorschach in the new "Watchmen" movie. Haley is a good actor and has that sorta creepy look and build that would suit Krueger. Google him and you will see what I mean. Freddy is Robert Englund, but Haley's casting does bring a lot of interest and hope. |
