About the flower: I think it was really symbolic about how much Sawyer has changed and how much his relationship with Juliet is very very different than what we have seen of his interactions with Kate. However I do think the smelling the flower and stuff was a little too much
. I think a simple picking the flower and handing it to her would have been sufficient.
