| Trent As she took his arm and they proceeded to the party, he couldn't help but think about the fact that Natalie was finally going out with him. He understood that she would always love her husband, but he was just glad that he went out with her tonight, even if nothing but friendship - not even that, comes out of it.
"Well to be honest...I've never been too fond of cops.."
He gave her a look and then he smiled a fraction. You could probably say that it was because he knew that she wasn't too fond of them.
"What? It's not my fault. The law just doesn't like me very much..And most the time I don't like it either. Which you probably already know given some of my past transgressions."
He nodded. It was pretty obvious, and he wished he could tell her that a cop wasn't the only thing he was, but that would just blow his cover and he didn't want that. The point was that she would date him thinking he was a cop and only a cop and if by the end of the night, she changed her opinion of them, all the power to him.
"Good, I'm glad," he responded as they went into the main ballroom referring to her comment about her having a good time so far. "Well, the night is still young and we just got here, so hopefully you will have a better time."
Trent saw that she was in a daze and wanted to help her, having an inkling of who she might be thinking about. He didn't know the guy personally, but he had heard stuff about him from Natalie and also from other people around town he had gotten to know over the years.
"Actually, I know you will have a better time," he remarked. "Even though I am a cop - off duty at that, you must trust me, for tonight. So, do you?" he asked with a small chuckle. |
