I just finished reading the book. And Michelle's character is quite importnat to the storyline. But, still, her character's role in the book isn't as extensive as I thought it would be. It'll be interesting to see how they interject her into the film.

But I agree that it is definately a role which will allow her to display some of that talent we know she has. Even though the author tends to write his female characters a little flat (the little girl's mother in Gone, Baby, Gone, which he also wrote, is a great example), the right actress can breathe a lot of life into them. I look what Amy Ryan had to work with a few years ago (in Gone, Baby, Gone) and she ended up scoring herself an Oscar nomination. No doubt in my mind that Michelle can do the same.
