ITA and well put! What Sam said hit Dean hard and he was out to really hurt him! And it doesn't matter how many times Dean's spoken or reflected his emotions about hell, he should have never used that as ammunition against Dean! That hit way too far below the belt!

Gay, you make a great point about Sam perhaps transforming his own anxieties about himself into rage against Dean, but you could also argue that it's to do with Sam's power struggles. Sam has always had issues with wanting control of his life, he's always fought against Dad and Dean and believed his way was better, which is why he always ran away to do his own thing instead of following any of their orders. Now that he's mastered some of his powers, he's gotten a taste of what it's like to be stronger then his brother in a way Dean could never be and I can see how this might go to his head and make him believe that this makes him a better hunter.

But what really bugs me about all of this is they never talk about it! It's always, you know I didn't mean it, right? We're good now, right? It's just empty apologizes cause clearly every thing's not alright and surely Sam can see Dean's no where neat alright? Why can't they just talk, fight, hug it out? Instead they just bottle it up! And I'm not putting all the blame on Sam for this one, Dean is to blame for this as well. He should have told Sammy what was really on his mind, not just let the gaping hole between them get bigger! I don't blame them for their actions, cause it's the way it always goes down between them but it just restates me and this time it might even kill them if one of them doesn't speak the truth for a change!
