This is my big ol' list of Spike/Fred fanfics...the part I could squeeze into this post, anyway. I'm a Spred fan from way back in the summer before AtS season 5, and have been collecting links to Spred fics ever since. In this post I've put a sampling from that list. In the summer following Buffy’s “The Gift” death, the Scoobies, convinced that Spike will become a bad influence on Dawn, pressure him to move to the Hyperion where Angel can “police” him. There Spike meets the other new arrival: Fred, fresh from Pylea and trying to recover her sanity.

Next is my version of what happens to various AtS and BtVS characters following “After the Fall,” with an emphasis on the romance of Fred and Spike. The series contains some recurring original characters: another band of "white hats" similar to the Scoobies and the Fang Gang, because with all the evil in this 'verse it wouldn't make much sense for Buffy's and Angel's groups to be the only two in existence. I've made every effort to beat my original characters very thoroughly with the Mary Sue whuppin' stick before letting them wander out onto the pages.

A series of vignettes beginning with a non-canon version of Spike becoming un-ghosted, and continuing with scenes depicting a growing romance between Fred and Spike. My favorites are Sections Two (II), Three (III), Eight (VIII), and Eleven (XI.) “Two” is a wonderfully lazy, playful scene in which Fred shares a joint with Spike: Spike's thoughts, speech, and body language are very in-character, Fred is as cute as a button, and the ending is as sweet as it is hot. In “Three” Fred's painting Spike's nails black, while rambling on about helping him augment his wardrobe at the local mall; another cute, funny scene with a teeny bit of believable anger in the middle that's beautifully resolved. Section Eight: Bathtub. Nekkidness. To write a scene this erotic and still manage to keep it R-rated is a true gift. *boggles* Section Eleven is a lovely, realistic, and touching scene of the pair in bed the morning after...well, what was obviously a really good night.

I’ll wrap this post up with one more ficlet, set in an alternate version of AtS season 5 in which Spike has become solid right away and is reluctantly attending a Fang Gang meeting in their new Wolfram & Hart digs…along with his cigarette lighter. It’s a combination that Fred finds much more riveting than the gang’s reports. Terrific sensory descriptions and UST. And hotness, which isn’t totally due to the lighter.
