Debates are won, or lost on words.

John McCain did not once say, "Middle Class" AT ALL in the entire 95 minutes. Coincidentally, he also did not say, "Middle Class" AT ALL in the last debate, either. People notice "little" things like this. If a candidate cannot even mention the socioeconomic class that makes up a majority of the electorate at large...DURING a time of economic crisis that is impacting that socioeconomic majority at large... They've already lost. No amount of speeches, or "friendly banter" can undo what is NOT said in a case like this.
