One of the last potential Oscar nominees to hit theaters, Revolutionary Road stars the Titanic tandem of Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. The film, based on a novel by Richard Yates, is directed by Sam Mendes (American Beauty, The Road to Perdition).
The title belies the subject matter; this is actually a relationship drama, and I guess you could say it's kind of an American Beauty of the 1950s. It's about a married couple that feels constricted by their pursuit of the American dream, with DiCaprio bored at his job and Winslet resentful that she gave up a chance at an acting career to stay at home. They bicker and their relationship crumbles.
