| Absolutely. Look at what happened with Terry Schiavo. Autopsy revealed that her brain had shrunk to such an extent that she would have had no cognitive abilities. But her parents saw what they wanted to see. And who can blame them, really. I can't imagine the pain you must be in when that's your child.
And I do think that the person who lives with you from day to day has a better idea of where you head is at, in the end.
Of course, that opens up a discussion on gay rights, because gay partners have very few recognized rights in this area, if any. Heck, hetero non-married life partners have little to no rights as well.
At the end of the day, this really is a question of being open as soon as possible about these things, with all of our loved ones.
