| LOL, I didn't mean they gave her grocery coupons, I meant they gave her a bunch of $10 gift-cards for a supermarket. Admittedly, not as good as cash, but with the price of groceries, just as good as money! But since we get the groceries - we'll get her bonus, which kind of isn't fair to her.
Oh gosh, speaking of money, it's been raining it this weekend! Well, not literally (it's been raining rain and plenty of it), but I balanced the checkbook and found a paycheck I never wrote in (hmm, no wonder I thought we were so short that week), plus the car insurance people refunded me a BIG check that came today, because I'd insured MLette through November, and since she got her new insurance with the same company, they just sent me the difference back - without my even having to ask them for it! Now, if they would just pick that lottery number of mine....
Terrific news Wen, that MOTHER has gone back to her own place again! Wow, it's been two weeks already? I must be getting old, because time is flying.
Glad she's out of your place and back home again and taking care of herself.
Yep, Captain Jack wrote his autobiography! Kind of hubris for somebody so young, but he's had an eventful life thus far. It's called "Anything Goes" (after the Cole Porter song, and probably goes with the mischief he gets up to also). Each chapter is a song title (and not one of them a song I recognize, and I thought I knew all of them.) I enjoyed it and laughed out loud more than a few times, plus it has all the cute photos. It just came out this year, I guess riding the tide of his Torchwood success. As his castmates said of him in the Torchwood extra stuff DVD, this was a role John B was born to play.
And he isn't really putting on a fake Scottish accent exactly - he was born in Glasgow and lived there until he was 9 and then his dad transferred jobs to the US and everybody ragged him about the weird accent - so he and his one sister dropped the accent and spoke American, with the Americans - but at home and with each other, they still speak with the Scottish accent. It's very strange.
I guess it's like when my brother gets around my parents, his Boston accent comes back. When I moved from Maine to Pennsylvania, everybody remarked on my 'cute' Maine accent and I got rid of it right away - for good! It's weird how they can switch the accent off and on - I suppose it's like being bilingual. That's so cool - I was in line at the gift shop at work and the guy spoke Spanish to the lady ahead of me and switched to perfect English with me. Cool.
I was shocked to read that some fans were VERY unhappy with the last 'Twilight' book and how the series ended. Though I suppose no ending would satisfy everybody (people imagine/hope things turn out one way or another) and there was something that happened that did really surprise me a lot - didn't see that coming/didn't think it was possible (not giving any spoilers! Trying really hard here). And there were accusations of Stephenie Meyer being anti-feminist etc. Entertainment Weekly reviewed it and gave it a D! shrug. But I don't think I was unhappy with how it finished up, I was just sad that the 'ride' was over.
LOL, I put on shorts and a summer shirt because I thought it would warm up - it was very cold and rainy. And I was freezing so I put on warmer clothes - and then didn't the sun come out and it warm up! Just can't get this clothes thing right for the weather (same with how many blankets on the bed - or none). Factor in the temperatures going up and down, with the hot flashes -
LOL, I'd thought I'd seen everything as far as ads at the top of the page, but there was one for Fanforum! Too funny - um, aren't we here already? __________________ Jason B is #1 with me "I'm with the vampires" |
