| He did say that not too long ago. So, who knows, but I was going by a statement from his business partner given: Quote:
But just days after The Shawshank Redemption star was involved in a serious car accident at the weekend, the actor's Mississippi-based lawyer and business partner Bill Luckett have confirmed the split. In a statement, Luckett says the former couple "are involved in a divorce action", adding, "for legal and practical purposes (Freeman and Colley-Lee) have been separated since December of 2007".
(...)
At an event in June, the actor was shocked to hear reports of his rumoured break-up with his second wife when quizzed about his marital status, insisting, "I don't know anything about that (filing for divorce)."
Freeman married Myrna in June 1984. He also shares two children with his first wife Jeanette Adair Bradshaw, whom he was married to for 12 years from 1967.
| Freeman Heading For Divorce
(I edited to condense the article, which repeats a lot of stuff we know already.)
From my own parents' separation, I do know that some couples elect to separate legally before they divorce. I don't know what the laws are in the United States, let alone if they change from state to state, but I do know that my parents separated legally at least a year before they pursued a divorce so as to make the divorce proceedings little more than a formality.
So, obviously I know nothing of what is going in this case or how different laws might come into play, but it seems to me that there's at least a possibility that whatever reasons were behind their split, there is still a chance that they are trying to make the proceedings themselves as amicable and painless as possible. __________________ Sunny "The work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die." avie by Jessie |
