That's assuming they let him go free, which they shouldn't obviously. He should be kept in hospital for the rest of his life. Medication does help, if that's what he needs.

If, for some reason, this wasn't an instance of a total mental breakdown (hey, sociopaths do exist, though it does seem to be a mental health thing here), then put him in jail for the rest of his life.
