I actually agree with your point.

I think at the stage B is in at the moment, she just wants to hang out with someone who likes her and who makes her feel good. And maybe she does like him and she thinks he's cute and maybe she thinks there could be something evolving from that. And LM probably knows that her heart is set on someone else, but I know many guys who will simply hang out with a girl to be there for her. Maybe he is getting his hopes up that she might one day fall for him.

And about the fact that B is not the type for casual dating: She slept with Chuck because she was angry with Nate. I personally, really don't think she slept with Chuck because she liked him. She was drunk and he was there and he admired her and made her feel good. After Nate made her feel like crap. And so I am seeing a connection to LM here, because Chuck kind of treated B like crap before and now she goes out with someone who makes her feel good and who will boost her self esteem.

I would think B is the type of girl who rushes into a new relationship in order to get over her old one, instead of staying single. With her self esteem (which was portrayed well through the eating disorder) she needs someone who will look at her and only her, who will make her feel wonderful. She used to pine for Nate, because she wanted to be with him, because that was the plan. But I think now she has realized that sometimes you have to let go and start something new...
